This quilt was made by Ruth Lincoln’s grandmother Rosa Reichert in the 1920s. The quilt block pattern is the “Ohio Star.” The white strip at the top was used to protect the quilt from the men’s beards.
Rosa Reichert lost her husband in the Flu Epidemic of 1917. She had 5 sons and 2 daughters. Four of the sons served in World War 1. One son was gassed at Argonne and another was in the Navy. A third son was a ship to Europe when the Armistice was signed.
