Silversmithing Hammers
![]() Ahhh Hammers. So important and so well loved by an silversmith. A good quality hammer is your best friend. Here you see planishing, chasing, raising, ball peen hammers and a rawhide mallot. I have a few more than this - which is far less than master silversmiths own & use.
Hammers need to have great care taken to not mark their heavy polished steel heads. They can be VERY Expen$ive! Here is a 'pro.' collection @ the silversmithing studio @ SFCC: www.flickr.com/photos/tujaded/2901906479/ CommentsTuJaded

Until I saw my brother's knifesmith shop, I had no idea just how many tools a person may need for this type of work. You've opened my eyes a little more. My brothers are not so shiny as his, plus many of his he's had to make out of scraps as he couldn't afford to buy many of them.
