I went out the other night to play with some post-sunset / night HDR shots. I got there early enough to find my spot, get the tripod set up - re-learn how to use the timer functions of my (wired) remote and all that. Kind of funny, because I thought I was running late, turns out, I timed it about perfect.

This shot was done early, while figuring out the remote and getting in the groove and all. The Sun was still up, but, not by much. So, this is my 'sunset' version from the evening.

Fall colors were just getting underway, and the green carpet of Duckweed was hanging tough with a sprinkling of Cypress needles. The bright colors of the trees in the distance against the mostly shadowed view from within the swamp was striking in this shot.

Another shot of Heron Pond. This time, in black and white. The long shadows just seemed to be calling out for it. :-)

During the Summer, the duckweed forms a solid green carpet. But, Fall litters the green with the orange needles of the Cypress trees.

I arrived pretty early, the Sun wasn't yet clearing the ridge to the East, but, close (tree tops were catching light).

As I walked in, I stopped to try and quickly grab a shot and keep moving to get set up before the Sun worked it's way all the way down to the water's surface. The first shot, was pretty shaky...I didn't even look at the camera settings..just framed and fired. Crap! I didn't want to take time to mess with things, but, thought hmmmm... the blur could work...so, I broke out my artistic license (I am allowed to use it once or twice per year) tried a few frames of motion blur.
