soapstone countertop

"Barroca" is a sparsely veined, true grey soapstone from Brazil. All soapstone available in the Bay is from Brazil. I could only find one supplier, actually, in San Francisco, Teixeira Soapstone. I decided not to put mineral oil on the surface which turns the stone black and heightens the effect of the white veining. Soapstone is non-porous, won't stain, but is soft to the touch. Scratches or nicks can be sanded away.
