      Isaac Asimov has been a favorite of mine since I first fell in love with his work in Canadian libraries. These words of his are lovely, and certainly well worth repeating, particularly in this age when the value of libraries and librarians is under threat.

      Unfortunately the words of the good doctor, along with all the other letters gifted to your library, (including one from my own country's iconic Prime Minister) have been bound in the chains of copyright.

      With copyright law the way it is these days, as a writer I am not brave enough to repeat these words without a Creative Commons or other license that expressly permits such use. It's too bad; I grew up thinking that the point of public libraries was to share the spaceship.

      We do not, yet, have a mechanism in place to mark all of our material with a creative commons license. However, you have permission to use this image or words, as long as you atribute the Library.
