Interestingness has changed as flickr has changed. Early on streetart would frequently be up there. Now landscapes, babies and 'tasteful' glamour shots rule. I guess 17 is an achievement for intertextual references to streetart and Rivington Street....

I'm afraid the newspaper is too yellow though - it sends a subliminal "vintage" message which I think was a mistake. The alphabet meal also symbolize childhood which I'm not sure was your intention. The story is great (though I wish the fork did not obscure the newspaper text). Photography is all about visual symbols which register on first glance. I don't feel it all coming together here with the text, story, and description of breakfast. Maybe if you moved the fork and made the newspaper look crispy white it would work better.

I'm inclined to vote unpopolo on account of my long comment, but in fact I feel ambivalent so for me that's a dgap

Just as a clarifiation, the London Financial Times is printed on salmon pink paper and the colour temp is accurately calibrated (more or less). The idea was to alert people to the fact that the photo was about financial matters. The photo is intended to be an ambiguous comment of the need for streetartists to make a living through selling their work and a critique of those who find this reprehensible

"Photography is all about visual symbols which register on first glance." I think the first part of this statement is true, but I am not sure I necessarily agree with the second part.

Sorry you don't think it works, but I value the feedback anyway.

For me, Alphabetti Spaghetti will always be associated with vomit.

When I was about 12 years old I came down with a nasty* case of gastro-enteritis. Dashing to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I threw up then collapsed on the floor. I remember lying there watching half-digested letters sliding slowly down the wall.

*I suspect that the word "nasty" is superfluous in this sentence. I've never heard of a "nice" case of gastro-enteritis.
