That is a brilliant portrait; looks like a
professional shot TT. Not at all like you
snuck in and stole a few snaps before you
could be stopped.
Anyway, my research shows that this film
just started filming for the BBc - starring
Billie Piper. (Ruby in the Smoke is by Philip
Pullman).

Er INoxKrow - I don't know how to add this
automatically, so here goes
Taken with my Canon 20D with 50mm f1.4
prime
Iso 100 f1.4 Shot RAW using canon faithful
picture style
Cropped in DPP, then tweaked in Photoshop
CS (high pass sharpening and saturation of
irises pushed slightly)

Perfect... except for that bit of out of
focus cottonwool or whatever it is in the top
left hand corner. It keeps distracting me
and spoils an otherwise lovely picture.
Maybe it could be dealt with in photoshop or
something.

Ruby in the Smoke on tv? Oh so, so cool.
It's full of stuff about photography as well,
and politics, I love that book. But Billie
Piper as Sally Lockhart? Please, please no.
No, no, no, no, no! Only Honeysuckle Weeks
would be worse! Or some soap star.
and the picture - I love it as a portrait,
I love the dof. If I was niggling I'd say it
needed more colour or exposure so it was
richer - but I think that the portrait
carries it off.

Thanks Popolo people, for the votes and the
comments
Savvo - good question. I think trespassing
certainly gives a buzz that could be argued
makes you more alert to your surroundings. I
was certainly aware that I had relatively
little time to take some shots, so had to
focus on what I was doing.
Vertigogen - Even though this is a shot of
a film set, I think that it still falls into
the 'street photography' category, so I would
feel uncomfortable about going beyond
sharpening and levels tweeks in PS
Knautia - Thanks, I have not read the book
but your comment has tempted me to get it -
photography and politics - great. I'll be
interested to see the colour saturation on
the TV

bother with this until I remembered this
photos and how good the characters looked!
