MacBook Mockup

MacBook Mockup by troelsbay.
I made this today by tweaking and manipulating current iBook material. It's a 13.3" MacBook, it's thinner than the current 12", widescreen, with iSight and frontrow-support (IR). The mockup is based on the Appleinsider rumor.

where is/are the latches or the button to open the lid? Beside that thats the best mockup I have seen yet.

You know what you may be upto something because frankly i can't see them coming out with anything else. As the previous respondent said if you included the latch i think you have yourself a winner there.

one side thing to consider, increase the size of the bezel on the top of the screen for the iSight. Look at MacBook Pro pics to see what I mean...

Ah, you see the latch is not there because it's magnetically held together! Okay, maybe not, but stranger things have happened!

Isn't the MacBook Pro latchless and magnetically held together?

I like this. Good work!

A little too much like...same image with a black screen and MacBook added?

edit: upon further inspection - my bad. Different mockups based on the same starting image.

And we have Digg effect! Either way, though, it's cool, I want one (based off the current ibook) with double the speed and half the price! (2.66ghz for $500, but we know apple won't sell their stuff for that cheap, that's why I still have a PC)

to aarpl & elooK

If you think they look similar it's probably because they're both based on apple's press material at: www.apple.com/ibook/gallery/front.html

If you don't think the modification is original I'll send you the Photoshop-file with the layers, just send me an email requesting it.

Apologies, troelsbay. I opened both up in Photoshop and they are clearly different. As you say, any similarities come from the fact you both started from the same image.

Nice work.

what I want to see is...

this, but lose the keyboard, the trackpad, and the optical drive, and put in a touchscreen. Maybe a little smaller. One piece, no clamshell.

The optical drive can be external, if you need a keyboard there's Bluetooth (or USB if you're lame). I don't have any need to carry an optical drive 99% of the time.

Throw in an iPod rolly thing off to the side for teh deluxeness.

I don't want to see another desktop replacement, but rather a complement. It should probably have a dock and software (iSync?) to keep just what you need, maybe using smart folders to specify what you want.

Congratulations! This image is currently one of Flickr's most interesting photos for 28 January 2006. (It is on page one of the calendar view.) Would you please add it to the Interestingness pool? It would be a great addition!

does anyone realize that apple patented technology just a couple days ago that allowed the screen to function as a camera too? There is no camera going to be built in.

first off, nice work!
2 things....
1) please no black iBook! i will cite the scratched nano as an example. the ibook is for consumers, students etc. my RevB icebook (G3500 dual USB iBook) has TONS of little scratches from who knows what, but they really do not show up because the thing is white.

2) if you look at the 15" and then 17" widescreen G4 iMac, it almost looks like the LCD is the same height, but they made the size jump in width. the keyboards are always the same size (look at 12, 15 and 17 powerbooks), so add a little more space between the edge of the keyboard and the edge of the machine (possibly 3/4"? enough for speakers?). it also does seem like the iSight needs more space up top, though the MacBook lid is thinner so maybe it will not seem as dramatic?

Everything looks good except 2 things.

1)Space between keyboard and edges just because the 12 inch spans the whole things already.

2) Shadow underneath doesn't match the new design. It still matches the original picture.

Nice work! I think it looks more like a 12" ultra-portable 'MacBook mini' though. I reckon we'll see one of these being released in the next few months too... :-)
