OH nice, I dont think I'm going to see this now in the theater. Shaking the camera is LAME! its been way to much lately starting with Blair Witch I believe.. wish they'd get over that.

Besides that, if you start to feel dizzy, just close your eyes for a while it does help,

I was on the Black octopus ride that spins around, but for some reason the cart I was in they must have oiled it or something in the morning as it wouldn't stop SPINNING, the only thing we could do is close our eyes which helped a TON however, I was still messed up from the motion the rest of the day it seemed.

yeah. i have to agree.. even i was feeling a little sick.. unlike other movies, it helps to acknowledge the screen itself, and the people in the front row, and other stationary objects while you're watching it.. it's pretty bad, and if they were smart they'd have made it approx. 50% of the movie, on and off.. it was pretty cheesy.. but good.

i cant stand when people use this method of filming. its not artistic, its just stupid. you can make a movie feel immersive without making people feel sick. good example: the children of men.

I was at the very last row in the back.
I had my head covered for half the thing or else I would've barfed all over everyone in front of me.

But it's ok, because I didn't miss anything (not even good footage). The whole story was OBVIOUS. You don't even really find out what is attacking. The blood and gore isn't bloody or gorey enough to make anyone sick (that might've been the best part?).

It wasn't scary.
It wasn't thriller.
It wasn't surprising.
It was bland, predictable, and awful.

I ended up with a headache at one point, but the best part was there was no sign at aour theatre and in the row just in front of us a guy had a seizure. Told the usher he was fine, kept shaking, then coughed a bunch and then got up and left at the end of the movie.

OMFG, you(pl) are so arrogant that you think the film producers should have to cater for the 1 percent of the population that gets motion sickness. it only sounds like most people ended upchucking because your all a bunch of whine wusses. 1-2 people hurl in a packed cinema, should have taken their meds, they knew they got motion sickness and they knew they were going into a movie filmed on handy cams. Normal people don't get motion sickness, you have a problem, see a doctor. don't bitch. there are more color blind people in the world and nobody caters to them.

This "warning" while true for some people is clearly written by Marketing. "similar to riding a rollercoaster"? What about similar to watching The Blair Witch Project while spinning in circles for 2 hours.

It was MORE than one percent of people who vomited during this movie and it has nothing to do with being a wuss. I for one have never had a problem with motion sickness or really thrown up in quite some time, yet the frantic video camera perspective made me queasy enough.

There was nothing artistic about the camera perspective in this movie. It was damn annoying. I knew alot of people who did atleast get a little queasy. So yes, if alot of people are running out of the movie theater or having to close their eyes then the movie director SHOULD cater to his audience.
I'd like to go see the movie again but I dont particularly feel like experiencing that horrible feeling for 2 hours straight again. Movie producers must realize that would be hurting their sales. If there is a Cloverfield two, I hope they make it look right.

This is awesome! I have seen Cloverfield twice (opening night and last night) I had no problems. I thought they balanced out the shaky cam and still cam parts really well. But I guess I have sat in front of way to many video games to be bothered by it. Once you watch one of your friends play a first person shooter for 3 hours straight you can get through anything!

I thought the movie was awesome, but nobody I've talked to seemed to think so (I was sitting in the second row, and didn't feel nauseous). And yes, after seeing it, I felt like I had ridden Superman for an hour and a half.

yea they are so not lying. my bf had to leave halfway through and i made it all the way through but certainly looked away a lot. several people around me lef.t i am very grateful the girl next to me made it out and didnt hurl on me!

whomever asked about being comp[arable to the second bourne movie- i dont remember that one as much as the third which for me was pretty shaky- there were two main difference though. In Bourne Ult. there was a lot of the movie where it WASNT like that where as pretty much all of cloverfield was. oh and Bourney Ult was a great movie whereas coloverfield was....well not. IMO

djördy says:

Heres the thing, the point of the whole movie is that it was captured by an amateur camera man. He didn't even want to film the party. So it comes to no surprise that it was going to be shaky. If you're prone to motion sickness, come early and sit in the back rows. or better yet, don't come at all. The movie is doing quite fine without you.
The more you complain about it, the more attention this movie will get and more $$$ it will make. :P

Sorry people, but Blair Witch was nothing compared to Cloverfield, camera movement wise. At least 1/4 of the shots in Blair Witch where the students using a tripod or doing "steady" interviews. No such luck in Cloverfield.

The camera was put down a grand total of 3 times in Cloverfield for all of like 30 seconds each time. Not nearly enough in my opinion. Thank goodness my gang and I sat near the back of the theater, a couple of us got headaches as it was. It's too bad too cause I like the movie, but I won't be buying it on DVD because of the movement.

only two people left in the theater I was in, and my group of 9 people were fine, although I did have a headache after, I think it was more due to the loud noises in the movie. I do think it would be hilarious if they released a soundtrack xD.

I'd say the movie was average, other than the standard plot holes, what this movie really needed was some characters that the audience would care more about.

I had to leave halfway through, and am not prone to motion sickness. Blair Witch only made me mildly queasy and I recovered easily. I can ride all the scariest rides without a problem. I tried closing my eyes during Cloverfield, but once past a certain point, the queasiness would not go away and I knew if I stayed, I'd hurl. Two hours after leaving, I still don't feel well.

I don't think there is any real way to predict if this film will make you sick or not.
