A couple of years ago I illustrated two Smart Girl's Guides for American Girl. The Smart Girl's Guides were super fun to work on and I think the whole series is high quality reading for girls. It's good stuff.

Now I've been featured in their new book Art Starts: Every Page Illustrated by You!. This is my interview page. When I finally saw the book at Barnes & Noble I burst out laughing like a fool. I had forgotten which picture I'd sent them. Now Lulu is in print! She looks like such a psycho, but I had to find a picture where I looked "normal". I guess holding a psycho chihuahua dressed in a dinosaur sweater will have to pass for normal for me.

My brother is gonna want to kill me for sending them that picture. Oh well. It won't be the first time he's threatened my life. You just gotta love older brothers.

That is hilarious! ROTFL. Had me laughing out loud. You certainly have an interesting take on normality ;). I don't think I've ever seen a dog look more intense (well except from Lulu in various other photos!).

Funny, my brother's name is Michael also but he's like 7 years younger. I think I've posted photos of us together too. Love the puppy - she is so cute with her green sweater!

Yes, ha, ha. Although, I've also started hearing more mothers shouting Olivia now. I guess it's one of the top five names now? It was my great-grandmother's name and no one had it as a name when I was growing up.

Yes, all the little kids in nowadays have old people names. My friends have Max and Lucy, my cousins have Sofia and Ruby. It's very strange, but I like the old style names. I've always loved the name Olivia, probably because I was such a huge fan of "Grease" when I was six.

I still am a huge fan of Grease! I want my kids to have striikingly foreign names, or just really Irish names. My sister wants her children all to be named olivia. Or mariska.
