Mister Softee

I am thinking of starting an Ugly Logo pool. Any interest?
Mister Softee by Triborough.
I gave into temptation and had a chocolate cone with chocolate sprinkles.

No. The truck was sitting at a corner on the Upper West Side, I think near Columbus somewhere.

Nice. I saw two of these today walking around downtown. A sure sign that summer's just around the corner. By the way, did you know that the Mr. Softee song actually has lyrics? I'll see if I can dig them up somewhere.

It always freaked me out that his head was an ice cream cone.
So an ugly logo pool would be great and Mr. Softee would be a charter member!

I did know the Mr. Softee jingle had lyrics to it, a tidbit gleaned from the news when they were talking about new noise restrictions last year. The company is also based somewhere in New Jersey.

I recall reading in Weird N.J. that their HQ is in New Jersey somewhere and they have half a truck on the roof as a sign.

They were also voted as the Best Ice Cream from a truck recently....I like their products, but our local truck comes down our street at 9:30 every night like some kind of surreal movie scene. I hate it's music.

I hate the music, too. However, it is a great deal - $2.00 for a cone of soft chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. Perfect to find while biking trhough the city on a warm day!

I found an MP3 and lyrics of the jingle from WFMU's Beware of the Blog:

I can tell you that the Mr. Softee theme was probably written by Waas-Block Productions of Philadelphia, because a bit of it turned up on an old commercial demo reel of theirs that I used to have. This page specifically cites Les Waas as the producer and perhaps composer.

The creamiest, dreamiest soft ice cream
You get from Mister Softee.
For a refreshing delight supreme
Look for Mister Softee.
My milkshakes and my sundaes and my cones are such a treat.
Listen for my store on wheels—ding-a-ling down the street.
[first four lines repeat]
S-O-F-T double E
Mister Softee!
