Every once in a while, lately, my camera has been doing this. What's wrong? Help!

The first (and easiest) thing to check is the memory card. Format the card on the camera, then retest. Format it on a computer, test. Run scandisk on the card to check for errors. Try the card in another camera. Try another card in your camera. etc. Try to rule out the card as the problem because anything else is harder to diagnose.

If you had a camera with a sensor made by Sony (who makes sensors for many brands, but not Nikon, I don't think) I'd say that shot is very consistent with the defective sensor issue Sony has had. It still could be a defective sensor, but is most likely something simpler.
