One of the primary tourist attractions in Iquitos is the Bora Indians who live near San Andrés Village on the Nanay River.
The Bora tribe is not native from the Iquitos area, but from further
down stream on the Amazon River, close to the border with Brazil.
They keep their traditional way of life, excepted presenting themselves and performing dances to visitors, tourists …up to recently for free, but now with quickly increasing (highly negotiable) “fees”. They also propose their traditional products, blow pipes, collars, etc. The number of families moving from their traditional place to this one, near Iquitos has also increased considerably recently. Nearby is another tribe, the Yagua tribe.
