Wow. What a plain normal holiday picture with
a nicely overexposed lake. Fits nice into a
personal album, but not on a public
medium....

AHAHHAH!
The last time I submitted an alternate
version of this picture, people said,
"Lake does not glitter." This time,
"Lake and sky are overexposed."
Sigh.
Eeheeheh. Oh man this is funny.
And I think I am a little high.

last time, did people also tell you the focus
was too sharp and the horizon wasn't tilted
enough?

Nada....
When I was your age I spent a year in Asia
and months traversing around the Nepalese
Mountains. In the late 70's that was fairly
unique. (ie: uncrowded). Pictures can (&
do) inspire!
That is both a remarkable and an invaluable
gift.
Be well...

Although the campsite gives an impression of
how large everything else is, it would be
better removed from this picture. I like the
shimmering light on the lake and wouldn't say
it's overexposed. But then again, it would be
nice to see what a polarizer could have
accomplished. Next time you go there, get
some panoramas ;) great work

Ah, simply majestic. Pictures like this one
and others on the LAN have compelled me to
try Haramosh next May.
I'm guessing that this is the initial camp.
How long is the stay there?

No, it's the last camp - camp 2. There is an
optional trek to the base of the pass from
here. We stayed here for 1.5 days. It was
great!

Is this near where Ned Gillette was shot to
death?

So that's his name. Yes, a man was shot here.
There are conflicting reports as to why. The
locals we talked to, said he and the woman
with him were being indecent. We suspect she
was in a bikini or sunbathing in the nude and
that was what led to these people (who live
in the middle of nowhere and are extremely
conservative) shooting one of them. I believe
the woman made it out alive.
The other story, which I got out of the
authors of Lonely Planet, was that these
people are not ready for tourism. It was
hinted that they looted the trekkers (though
we ourselves faced no such problems btw)
