Playin' it cool

Playin' it cool

Here is an image of my wife that I shot quite awhile ago. I was browsing old photos the other day and ran across this one. I added some treatment and then I fell in love with the shot.

What do you think?

Sweet LL

Here is an image from an impromptu photo shoot with our daughter. I love the expression from this shot! Funny part is she is trying to suck on her wrist which she loves to do.

Lighting Info: Alienbee AB800 in a 24"x36" Westcott softbox, camera right and really close to the subject. Triggered via optical from a 580EXII on camera (I couldn't quickly find my sync cable for my triggers).

Stanley was sitting on our rocking chair in Lilah's room while we were changing her. He ended up laying down like this on the edge of the seat and I had to grab the camera and take a couple of shot.

Alley Mat

Alley Mat

Mat (who is no stranger to my camera) came over the other day to be part of a new series of images I'm doing based on a certain clothing-based song by Seattle musician Macklemore. This image wasn't what will be used for that series but I loved his pose and with the lighting setup I used, I thought this would work well in a composite, Joel Grimes'esque image.

Mat was shot in studio (read: my living room with massive furniture rearrangement) against white seamless, edited in Lightroom and Photoshop, cut out and placed on the background image. The alley image is a single frame HDR made in Photoshop from a film picture that was taken this last year during my OneRollFifty2 project.

Mat was shot using an Alienbee AB800 with a white beauty dish camera left and close to the subject. Back and rim light was achieved using a Nikon SB-28 and small shoot through umbrella behind subject and camera right. A Canon 580EXII was placed just behind Mat, pointing at the seamless to help blow it out to make post production easier.

I love how the key light is coming in from the left and because of the way he has the hat cocked sideways, it's only illuminating his left eye. It adds to the mystery of this man in the alley.

Here is another image from the same roll as my last shot. So this was also shot with the Yashica Mat-124G on Kodak Portra. This is a corridor within the Seattle Center and I always love walking through it. The bending glass on the building plus the strange cargo-net-like things hanging above create some awesome visuals.
