Spain, Canary Islands, Lanzarote
Although this is the youngest of the volcanic Canaries, Lanzarote has experienced a number of eruptions in the last 200 years that have left behind a spectacularly sculpted beautifully Eeiree windswept landscape almost devoid of plants. The rich volanic soils produce excellent wine grapes which must be protected from the wind by small stone windbreaks.
