The debris of past flashfloods, enormous tree logs and branches are stuck 40 feet high up the canyon walls. They are a stark reminder of the forces of nature that are occasionally unleashed on Buckskin Gulch. With no escape route, and impossible to outrun, a hiker caught in such a flood would stand little chance of survival.
