Zephyr AR-600

Zephyr AR-600 by TRANSISTOR RADIOS.
An unusual design for a pocket radio. The circle and arrow inside the reverse painted dial remind me of the Trylon and Perisphere (1939 World's Fair - designed by the firm Harrison & Foulihoux).
This radio dates from 1958 -1959.

The cabinet is an uneventful grey color. I have two nicer examples, one with a lavender cabinet and one that is forest green. The AR-600 also came in red.

Aiwa was originally known as Aiko Denki Sangyo Co. and was established in 1951. In 1959 the company's name was officially changed to Aiwa. Ten years later Sony purchased a majority share in Aiwa.

Nice! That logo reminds me of the old Plymouth logo. (Oops, dated myself!)
