Such a sensitive composition - I love that yellow in the midst of grey, really sums up the cycle of life - nicely captured! BTW, I love the story about the sky divers; I know I've missed great shots even with a camera in my hand knowing I can't be ready in time, so I just try to accept it as a miss and take it all in with my eyes!

I have to look through my photos a bit, but my walk taught me quite a bit. Before going on my walk, I was able to read Popular Photography cover to cover (I was held hostage somewhere) and the thing that stuck in my brain the most was a quote from another photographer (I'm afraid, I don't remember who though) "Shoot everyday because the more you shoot, the more you see." That pretty much sums up how I shoot and how I am constantly learning how to see.

Hours later, I finally get out for my walk/drive. I was driving around and getting lost in the netherworld of farmlands and wilderness between Massachusetts and New Hampshire when I spot some great towering corn against a deep azure sky brushed with whispy stark white clouds. I'm shooting various corn stalk/sky shots when I realize that I keep hearing voices. How could that be? There was no one around, yet the voices were loud and happily excited. Then...I looked up! There, dotting the perfect sky were several bright pink ribbons floating against the blue. There were skydivers raining down upon me! (Well, not on me, but near me). Of course, I didn't have my zoom lens...just the 17mm-85mm so the shots weren't all that good, but the experience was wonderful and reminded me to always look everywhere...including up!

And down...
