This is Yodabashi Camera in the Akihabara district of Tokyo Japan. This is the 3rd floor for "pros".
The selection of gear here was only surpassed by the same floor in their store in Osaka. The demo counter on the right had every Nikon SLR you can buy. Same for the Canon counter and others. The lens lignup for testing was impressive. Most expensive lens readily testable was the 70-200mm f/2.8G VR.
The cabinet contained all the other Nikon lenses currently in production except for a few of the super telephoto lenses (500 and 600 where missing here, 500 was missing in Osaka).
There was also another set of demo cameras at the SLR counter. There were even a couple of D2xs around to try out freely.
Dreaming Artemis, poopfinger123, and straywolves added this photo to their favorites.

I passed many of my free time in this stores trying things before buy then. In Japan they simply dont care if you touch or try, all day long if you want. The thin wire I think they use more for case of accidentaly let the lens fall down than for security reasons. To steal in Japan is not the most inteligent thing anyway. Once I forgt my macdonalds take away meal in the bus stop and 1 week latter It was still there. Not exagerating.
Also the things that you can try after some time are replaced and this (used) things go to the second hand departmente of the store or to one of the big second hand departments in the cities, and you can find than almost new and very cheap. Or you can live your old camera and change it for a brand new with some discount.
I met in japan many crazy people that after 2 or 3 weeks got desapointed with the camera and changed it for another brand or better model.
Yeah, Thats japan.
The most important words are Change, Recycling and NEW.
