The Causes of The Great Depression / FDR Memorial Site
According to respected economist John Kenneth Galbraith the causes of the Great depression were unhealthy corporate and banking structures, an unsound foreign trade, much economic misinformation and the "bad distribution of income".
Consider those economic conditions to today's economic conditions. I hope you are thinking about it on a day the stock market fell 500+ points.
Seen at the FDR Memorial site, Washington, D.C.

Oh, like the expected 9/11 attacks, the expected devastation from Hurricane Katrina, the expected results of the Iraq invasion, etc.,etc., this result of the Cheney/Bush junta's economic policies were also predicted, by Bush's own Treasury Secretary, Paul O'Neill. Paul O'Neill was rebuffed and told to resign.

Beautifully composed capture! ... you have done justice to the impact of a personal visit to the Memorial!
The FDR is my favorite Memorial because I believe it speaks so much to us today about many critical challenges that we have failed to meet ... which are now challenges for our children and grandchildren.
I fear that history will see our generation as "The Failed Generation" ... the children of the 40's and 50's who saw everything in terms of short-term gain and self-gratification (read my lips, no new taxes!), and who had practically no grasp of long-term problems ... we are leaving our children and grandchildren with a nation in tatters and a planet in crisis ... politicians didn't do this all by themselves.

A very emotive picture and very apt for the current turmoil in the world's financial markets.
