Philadelphia: "Proclaim LIBERTY throughout the land"

(John Dock) Stow and (John) Pass, recast the bell.
Philadelphia: "Proclaim LIBERTY throughout the land" by Tony the Misfit (taking a break).
My first return visit to Philadelphia after 30 years away - to work in the Democratic primary - also provides me many photo opportunities.

Now that I am a (very) amateur photographer, I had to do my photo of the Liberty Bell - of course!

The Liberty Bell was ordered for use at the statehouse of Pennsylvania. Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London originally cast the bell. It was recast by.....well....check out the note!

(The bell had its' first crack soon after it was hung and rung!)

Great shot. It is very hard to photograph it well because of all the windows. Depending on the time of day, it tends to get back lit.
So how do you like it's new home???

Thank you for sharing your photograph. I have just used it to illustrate my article http://pennsylvania-travel.suite101.com/artic le.cfm/five_historic_philadelphia_sites_to_se e on Suite101.com, an online magazine.

Please let me know if you would prefer the credit to be under a different name and whether you require your original photo caption to be used, as I have changed it to match the article’s content.
