49/365 I Hurt. Really.

I added a trench underground here that wraps around the corner and filled it with drainage rock and a PVC pipe with holes drilled in it. It does a wonderful job keeping the water off the porch. Originally I'd get a puddle on the porch at this end.
Oops this stone is loose and going to have to be redone.
Been working on a craftsman style theme to this prairie / craftsman style boarding house.
Still have to hang the ceiling. I had to rebuild a lot of the roof and replace some supports. I have beadboard panels I'm going to mount here.

Breaker box is behind this wall, that's why I extended the solid panel out so far, to keep rain / snow from hitting it. I also mounted the low voltage light transformer on the back side of this wall.
My shadow! lol

49/365 I Hurt. Really. by Tony Maro.
Day 49. Spent the weekend doing the stone veneer on my porch. So far I've finished one end and done all but the grouting on this end. The long side I still haven't touched.

Laying stone is certainly more art than technical skill. Once I figured out the proper mix for the mortar the skill part was pretty easy. Unless a stone was really heavy I didn't have to worry about propping it until it set, although if you look in the lower left of the frame you'll see that I've propped one really heavy stone with another one just in case.

Time for some serious painkillers and a nap I think.

Strobist info: FL-36R left of camera on 1/8th. Digi-Slave 3000 right of camera triggered by povertywizard.

So far I've rebuilt this porch from the ground up, layed the paver walkway you see here and installed the low voltage landscape lighting. I still have to hang the ceiling and install the screens and screen doors before I'll be done.

The stone looks nice. I love decorations of this sort. Now, if only I could convince my wife...

If you're convincing, while at it just convince her to do the work, because it's a lot of hard work. :-)

Here's a before picture. In front of the entry to the porch was a huge concrete slab I had removed.

from one do-it-yourselfer to another, you're doing a great job...LOVE this photo...I like how your landscaping lights are illuminated...I like the darkness on the right side of the photo (my right)...the shadows on the porch are a nice feature from the lighting...you captured the details of the walkway and stone nicely
