I do remember this old vinyl discs, unfortunately, we never had one of those here at home.

The capture is interesting, although it is not impressive to me. Even so, I can appreciate the perspective and the creativity in the capture. You look like one of those persons who see good photos in the ordinary and small things.

I am not sure about the location of the elements, I just feel there is something missing in the capture. My eyes stayed on the right side of the photo, where the interesting things are, therefore there is a lot of frame unexplored here.

I feel the light could also be improved, in a different, perhaps lateral angle could create interesting textures on the disc. The focus also needs some work too. It seems a good deal of the "reader-head" is out of focus, just the needle is in perfect focus. I do not know if that was the intention, but I would have liked it better with all in focus. Part of the "reader-head" is overexposed.

Now, all been said. The photo does convey this feeling of living in the old times. What if you include a hand setting the "reader-head" on the surface of the disc? That, perhaps, could improve composition and convey a stronger sentiment.

I do like the detail of the needle. At what shutter speed did you capture this image? I like the look of the vinyl.

I used to DJ and I had a few 1000 of vinyl, until I recently sold them. You don't really realise how heavy they are until you have to carry them around.

I've added a note in regards to the bottom left hand corner of the image. Did you leave that bit in to show that the black is a record? If you did I can see your point of view however, I feel it slightly spoils the shot.

It would have been interesting to see just the needle and the vinyl and then change the image to B+W. The grooves in the vinyl and a good description would have informed the viewer what they were looking at.

This is a great picture. The colours reflected on the record work well with the cartridge. Thanks for making it a CC licensed picture. I used it in my blog post here:

Thanks much!
