Dragon Dance

Dragon Dance

International District/Chinatown, Seattle

Ting, my mom, and I took my niece, Frankie, to the dragon dances in the ID. Frankie had seen a dragon dance last summer and thought it was awesome, so this being the year of the dragon and all, we thought we'd treat her to a day out to see the dragons again.

Unfortunately, there everyone else had the same thought, and there was almost no way to see the dragons without assaulting other Seattleites.

Olympic Sunset

Olympic Sunset

Discovery Park, Seattle, Washington

It's embarrassing to admit this, but I've never been to Discovery Park in Magnolia. I know. My mom used to live in that neighborhood, a stone's throw from the park itself, and I never walked through it.

I walked through a meadow to get this shot, and although it was frigid, it was an amazing sunset. The color just south of where I was aiming for this frame was ablaze with rich orange and pinks.

I love the northwest!

Lunar New Year Lanterns

Lunar New Year Lanterns

Unfortunately, there everyone else had the same thought, and there was almost no way to see the dragons without assaulting other Seattleites. I have a couple crummy shots, and that's it. Luckily, someone left the lanterns unguarded. :-/

The Olympics

The Olympics

Discovery Park, Seattle, Washington

It's embarrassing to admit this, but I've never been to Discovery Park in Magnolia. I know. My mom used to live in that neighborhood, a stone's throw from the park itself, and I never walked through it.

Today was gorgeous, and I thought maybe, just maybe the Olympics would be visible. They weren't - not fully, anyway. This is better.

I walked through a meadow to get this shot, and although it was frigid, it was an amazing sunset. The color just south of where I was aiming for this frame was ablaze with rich orange and pinks.

I love the northwest!

Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market

Seattle, Washington

Pike Place Market in Seattle is probably one of the most well known landmarks in Seattle (aside from the Space Needle). Every tourist goes there; every photographer takes pictures of the neon signs above the market's roof.

I was down at Pike Place trying to take some shots for an upcoming project (more on that much, much later), and found a little walkway with a view I hadn't come across before.

Voila! The forgotten back side of the market. Only two people walked by me as I was making this image. I doubt many people come back here.

I also discovered something disturbing about my 11-16 f/2.8 - my go-to ultrawide: it has massive amounts of dust inside it. Only judicious use of the spot correction tool in Lightroom could rectify the craziness. Anyone know how to get dust out of a lens? Crap.
