Tribute in Light, which is organized by the Municipal Arts Society, has shined into the New York sky every year on September 11th since 2002 and serves as a very powerful memorial to the people who lost their lives on that day in 2001. It has secured funding for this year and next and I hope they can come up with a way to make it a permanent annual memorial.
I took this on Tuesday night when they were doing a test run of the lights. I've taken other photos from this spot recently and thought it would be a fitting place to photograph the memorial.
Tribute in Light will shine from dusk this evening until dawn tomorrow morning.
