Nes church ruins (Mørketid)
Originally built during the 1000 century, the church was expanded several times. That church stood in the place until 1567 when it was burned to the ground during a war with Sweden. It was later re-built and in 1697 it was expanded to it's current size.
In 1854 it was hit by lightning and the church burned again. It was never rebuilt.
Conservation works was commenced in 1924 to preserve the remains. It has subsequently been repaired several times. The last time in 2005 for some major works lasting a couple of years.
