Post Card of the Day
A post card view of the Victory Room at the Hotel Buena Vista in Biloxi, Mississippi. I would assume that this would have been some time around1945-46. The Buena Vista survived (at least in part) until 1993 when it was destroyed by fire and its remaining walls were pulled down to build a parking structure for the Beau Rivage. For more of the history of the hotel see this link for an article I wrote about its history. The construction of a loop for Interstate 10 next to the hotel did nothing to help its future.

Fascinating stuff, very emblematic it seems of that era.

Love this, Tom! I well remember the Buena Vista and the other great hotels
that "once were" on the Gulf Coast!
