Is anyone else ready for Spring to arrive??? I am!!! Taken from my archives.........I just needed a flower to brighten my day so I found this one from several years ago and had a little creative time today. Creativity is a fleeting thing for me. Here today.............gone tomorrow and for months following and then back again. Geez!!

Today I groomed a dog for the local Humane Society. I work with them often. One of the best things in my life is working with these abused and neglected animals. The poor fellow in the photos below was in HORRIBLE CONDITION, one of the worst I have seen so far. His coat was so matted that I had to use a #40 (surgical cut) blade on some parts of him to get the mats away from his skin. He just laid there..........even though it must have been so painful, and let me do what I needed to do to take care of him. He smelled so terrible and was filthy. I can't believe he didn't have fleas. The mats on his ears were connected to the mats on his legs! Actually the entire coat came off in huge sections of matted fur. By the time I reached his hind end I could not believe what I found. There was so much matting around his anus that he could not even clear his own waste. There was at least two pounds of feces stuck to his back end and the area around his anus was completely infected, swollen and bleeding. He didn't even try to bite me when I was caring for him. I did have a helper to keep him still during the cleaning of his back end but he was a trooper! I have posted his before and after pics below. By the time he was done with his grooming he was chipper and playful and just wanted to be held. His grooming job isn't perfect but he was ready to be finished by the last photo. I think this may have been his first grooming experience.

My photos of him -many I didn't post here - and all of his matted fur will be going to court in about two weeks so that his previous owners are held accountable for their horrendous treatment of him. Abuse and neglect charges have been filed. :)
