    I wanted to make these so badly today! We didn't have any limes or vanilla extract in the house. :( Where did you find the large grained sugar?

    it's turbinado sugar colored with a little "seelect" food coloring -- the red (beet extract) and blue (blueberry extract) turn out pretty good but the yellow (turmeric extract) doesn't quite get that "pop" of color

    Hi there - I use beet powder, turmeric and alfalfa to colour my cupcake frosting, and was wondering how exactly you coloured the sugar, did you use like a beet paste and mix it with the sugar? I tried doing something like this the other day, but it came out to a gloopy mess. Would love some tips! :)

    as I recall, we made a small pile of the sugar in a tiny glass bowl, put a couple of droppers of the beet extract in, and started turning it over quickly to coat it, without getting the gloop... you need just a small amount of the extract, and as long as you keep the sugar moving, it gets coated pretty well...
