Deer truffles (medium potato on the left for comparison)

We found these things when we harvested our potatoes. They're probably potatoes but they're smaller and nobby. They seem to have the same consistancy inside as a raw potato. Anyone else ever find these when they harvested potatoes? Could it be a fungus? Maybe a truffle?
