cable is tied down with two stray wires wrapped around it and thru the board holes, then hot glued

Roomba Serial Interface: circuit finished by todbot.

Wire up the cables as shown in the schematic and the pin-to-cable color diagram made for the particular cable, solder them down, and hot-glue the cables to the board for strain relief.
