That's funny, I was think of doing the exact
same thing, using phone adapters as serial
adaptors, rencently. You can get them for
around 6$ USD on eBay and probably less if
you are patient. But USBRS232 DB9 adaptors
are also quit cheap at around 10$ a piece.
Nevertheless, this is a nice way to add usb
permanently to your projects.
