awesome capture! too bad the contrast overall is so far off .. the left side of the girls' faces lack detail because of the darkness and the sky is blown, far too bright compared to the girls .. fix the contrast and balance in this shot and it is a phat save ..

.m: Your intelligent reasoned comments are much appreciated, but the blown out sky was deliberately exaggerated in this case. I wanted to make the picture more dramatic and really have a contrast between the skin tones and the sky. I understand and respect your opinion.. but do not agree with it!! ;-)

I love the subject, the perfect timing and the humor, but I think it should be framed just a little lower, and the brightness/contrast of the mains subjects tweaked. (There's just a hair too much "head in the center" phenom here, and the crop of the elbow on the upthrust hand combines with the lack of sharp contrast to give a hint of confusion about exactly whose hand is sticking out of where.)

wonderful shot, but there's a couple nitpicky things that keep me from saving it (shadows a bit too dark, the tree, strange little clouds in the sky). with a bit of work, this could be great.

I hope you never look back on this one and laugh, taro, no matter how outstandingly good you get at portrait-taking -- I love this one for its honesty and spontenaity and freshness. sometimes it's the "imperfections" that really make an image become sublime...

Honestly, I don't care what the technical shortcomings are in this image, I'd be damn proud to have taken this shot. I don't like many kid-shots because I frankly don't particularly enjoy the "cute" factor all that much. These kiddies, however, have REAL expression, neither adult nor child...just REAL.
