Japanese War Tubas

Japanese War Tubas by TitaniumDreads.
In the days before radar these were used to locate (and fire at) incoming aircraft. I heard that the dude on the right is emperor hirohito taking a tour of the new War Tubas. I'm a little dubious about that claim but I'll buy it for the sake of things

OMG. This is the most fascinating thing I've yet seen this year. Apparently, according to Wikipedia, the tubas were used to LISTEN, not transmit.
