NGC 6992-6995, The Veil Nebula
As a boy I was dumbfounded by W. C. Miller's image of this nebula. The number of stars his image showed was staggering to me, and inspired me to a lifelong love of astronomy and the beauty of the heavens. Now these 40-some years later, I have access to fantastic equipment and can make my own images of the heavens. So a year ago I decided to make an image of this object of my own, in memory of W. C. Miller and the influence he had on my life through his pioneering color images of the heavens. I gathered some reasonable color data at that time, and now I have some luminosity data to add. The result is ok, not fantastic, but this is the next step in my quest to honor his memory.
