Ditto to all the wows above! I love the bright spot at the bottom where the lightening actually hits the ground. You usually don't see that in one of these shots. Well done.

Thanks for the comments yall!!! Set the camera on a good tripod, using a timer... set sutter speed to any exposure time you want, adjust apeture and let the timer work for you. On this shot, shutter was 30 sec. @ F.8, I think. O, almost forgot. Point the camera in the area you see the most strikes. Be safe doing this, the tripod makes a good lightening rod!

Hey Phil~
This picture is PHENOMINAL! Kudos to you...
I see a lot of lighting captures but this one is over the top with the capture of the rain coming down as it is, the detail in the rock (or appears to be a rock), the clouds and the color treatment.
Keep up the great work!

This is truly a fantastic (and fantastical) shot. I also want to add that if you click the link for your camera (Canon EOS 7D) in the top right, it will give all the EXIF data that shows how the shot was done. That's one of the reasons why I clicked here. I love looking at other people's EXIF data because I can learn so much.
Congrats on a job well done.
