It didn't take long for the construction to start. Maybe someone is in a hurry to get out.

Yes, We Did! I've read there's a movement to narrow the time between election day and inauguration. Sounds good to me!

Oooh, this gives me shivers of anticipation. Tuesday night, seeing the weeping, happy faces filled with hope and love - so incredibly rare, and we'll get to see it again!

It's good to be alive.

annmiller: Maybe so. :) I was surprised to see this starting already.

tracy out west: I've heard that too. "W" has recently implemented some controversial executive orders (relaxed pollution restrictions, bottled water standards, etc.) that will have time to become permanent before the Inauguration. He learned to do this after easily resending some of Pres. Clinton's orders that were so new they hadn't become permanent.

Tri_Poodle: Yep. I sure did. :) I don't think our generation has ever had such positive feelings about our government/leaders.

Foxxy & Baldr: Counting the days! I'll be there when it happens!

mathamgri: :)

tee4tia: Yes, it is. It used to be from November to March (a long time ago), so they have shortened this time at least once before.

gwendolyn true: I think there will be a totally different impression of this house. I so look forward to hearing our President speak, believing what he tells me, and being impressed with his command of the English language (using sentences with more than three words). (Did I say that last part out loud?) ;)

poodlenose: Isn't it cool to be so excited about this?!?!

So...were you guys in the crowd?! We watched hours of coverage tonight, con champagne ;-)) Y'all were the only people I "knew" who were going to be there!

Hey poodlenose:
We helped participate in the pre-inauguration parties, starting at 701 Pennsylvania Ave, in a private room with a huge window looking out to the Navy Memorial and Pennsylvania Ave. (and No camera!!!). I've never seen that Archives-Navy Memorial Metro Station so crazy as it was Monday night, and I'm sure it was worse Tuesday. (Metro set a new record that was 250,000 more riders than the previous record.) We had some more fun running around town 'till late at night - all dressed up, eating some oysters and drinking some bourbon. (Our friends have horror stories from the Illinois Inaugural Ball. It was a free-for-all.) We met some great folks from out of town and even took some to their Virginia hotel after their bus route had stopped for the night.

After our pre-inauguration party contributions ;) we awoke to see that the crowd was already past the Washington Monument. That caused us to fire up the iron skillet and fix some buckwheat pancakes, fresh berries, and real whipped cream - and fire up the TV. :) Luma had the best seat in the house, on my lap for the whole event. :)

Wow, how fun! Look at you guys, rubbing elbows with the pols and the pundits ;-) 701 sounds great - from their website, menu, location - cool! Watching the big deal on TV with pancakes and Luma sounds perfect...Luma and real whipped cream - how could you tell them apart? ;-)

Inauguration Tuesday was the bestest...we DVR'ed it and watched hours of coverage. Toby was happy 'cause we were in such good moods!

True!

It's tough, 'cause they are both white, fluffy, and sweet. ;)
