Saving Private Will

I found this picture from a couple years ago.... wow...completely forgot about it!

Another unexpected hiatus from posting on Flickr. Past two months or so I've been traveling nonstop, and busy as heck on the home redo while I am here. Hoping to get some pics processed in the next few!

Location 2: Stonehenge (Amesbury, England)

Glenn taking a break from wandering around the 'henge.

It's been a VERY hectic week for me! After coming back from a couple weeks in Britain, I have been basically living out of a suitcase while the flooring crew took longer than expected to install the hardwood floors. I'll finally get to move back in this weekend, woohoo! The floors look great, but now I have to paint and redecorate. I was hoping to get more shots processed during the week, but I couldn't. A last minute trip to DC, and now a weekend trip to Atlanta doesn't help either! But I promise to get more pics processed soon.

Stay tuned for more, and learn what Location 3 will be!

Processing: I used selective adjustments, including local contrast adjustments, unsharpening.

Second stop on the Great British Expedition is Stonehenge, the most famous Henge in the world......!

One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. It is at the centre of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds. Archaeologists had believed that the iconic stone monument was erected around 2500 BC, as described in the chronology below. One recent theory, however, has suggested that the first stones were not erected until 2400-2200 BC, whilst another suggests that bluestones may have been erected at the site as early as 3000 BC. The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. The site and its surroundings were added to the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986 in a co-listing with Avebury henge monument. It is a national legally protected Scheduled Ancient Monument. Stonehenge is owned by the Crown and managed by English Heritage, while the surrounding land is owned by the National Trust.

Archaeological evidence found by the Stonehenge Riverside Project in 2008 indicates that Stonehenge served as a burial ground from its earliest beginnings. The dating of cremated remains found on the site indicate burials from as early as 3000 BC, when the initial ditch and bank were first dug. Burials continued at Stonehenge for at least another 500 years. (Wikipedia)

Domain of the Dead

Location 2: Stonehenge (Amesbury, England)

View On Black

I guess I would consider this my piece de resistance of my Stonehenge visit during the Great British Expedition! Definitely View On Black and large!

Waiting a LONG time for this, and even though I didn't get the traditional sunset I was hoping for due to the heavy clouds, it was something to behold. Right when I thought it was going to be a bummer of an evening, the "afterglow" of the sunset hit like a nuclear explosion!

Brilliant golds and umber started to spread across the sky, and I knew this was going to be a pano! But this was a very complicated panorama in the vein of one my previous ones. This is about 5 frames of 3 exposures each, a Multi-HDR-Panorama. Maybe I can call it a "Super Pano!"

Bob in Awe

Bob in Awe

OK, so I've been a LOT busier than I anticipated this week, mostly due to things going wrong in one way or another (if you're on Facebook, you'll have read about it! LOL)

In any event, I am getting ready to drive up to the Lake District and try and get some snow-capped mountain shots. But the weather is pretty gnarly and I'm hoping the roads are clear and so is the weather!

In the meantime, meet Bob. He's my new buddy! He keeps and eye on his brother Mac, and he's just as in awe of the shining Apple as I am!

***taken with my iPhone, so pardon the quality!***
