McCain vs Obama

intresting...so small but makes a big impact
Even more interesting is what surrounds War. Come Home.
This is because all he does is trash talk. He has no experiance to call upon to prove he is the right guy, so he just trys to make you believe that McCain is the worst of the two.
We need a president that cares about our country and the values it was founded on!
So small because John McCain hates America - Of course I don't really think that - Lighten up other commenters!
Tough years, Indeed.
Values like the Constitution and Bill of Rights. No spying on American citizens.
If I was doing Obama's speech, this would have been McCain Bush. That's why he talks about McCain; Bush3.
Need obama!
"oh, i guess he is the better guy", says America
More and more taxes, yeah that is just what we need. sure.
And when a terrorist attack happens again, let's just blame it all on Bush so we can get re-elected! CH-CH-CHANGE
More tax!
Fair enough, so how about:
"Obama hates America and is the muslim anti-christ!" Remember, lightenup!

McCain vs Obama by Thomas Hawk.
I took John MCain's acceptance speech from last night's Republican convention and compared it to Barack Obama's acceptance speech from the Democratic convention and made wordles of each. John McCain's wordle is on top, Barack Obama's is on bottom.

interesting color choices. explain why? I notice Obama is into McCain, but McCain is into Americans and the Country. hmm. Obama uses America and American, but not Americans?

@Amelia, he used Wordle.

hmmm, obama comes out with "promise"
mccain comes out with "country"

both are pretty useless words, imo

water, air, energy, solutions... these seem more like real words to real problems

Americans in Obama small. this says something. I have used Wordle. you can control the color. people are going to be starving internationally and Obama wants to turn our food supply into energy. Obama is about diplomacy, but with people starving internationally our enemies will not be able to control their own angry populations. It will be Gaza Strip on a grand scale. Obama has no vision of the situation we are about to face. Diplomacy is an empty word. Republicans will win because Americans won't commit suicide

Xtremely Cool. The tag cloud puts their speeches into perspective. Unfortunately, not much of substance or policy.

Personally, McCain used "fight" way too often. It's like the guy wants armed conflict.

Interesting that McC's has past verb tenses, Ob's are present, and future oriented.

Actually, "Fight" and "fight" are both in McCain's cloud… might want to enter the speeches in lowercase except for proper names.

Sorry, your analysis missed a few words. Where's all the "Me, POW, I, Hero" in McCain's speech, those were the most often repeated, with the possible exception of STAND UP! I found that whole thing more than a little disturbing. And your also missing the WE CAN DO BETTER in Obama's speech. Perhaps we were listening to different speeches.

I run a political web site, wonkosphere.com, where we use text analytics to track the buzz on the candidates. Our technology can create word networks from the text, which can be interesting to visualize.

===============
AND SO BEGINS THE MEDIA INQUISITION OF JOE THE PLUMBER:
If only the media were just as equally as concerned with
the "paperwork" of the millions upon millions of
ILLEGAL INVADERS OF THE USA or of Obama's slithery buddies.
(WINK WINK) Yourselves.
Obama's definition of greed:
When you make "too much money" to be able to set up a business as
a launch pad to enable more people to become less dependent upon
his God - the goverment. You must be able to make it over Obama's
big money sponge to get past GO and you must kiss the democrat ring
to get their blessing. Liberals hate guns? Nonsense: They LOVE the guns
held by the enforcers of the ever-growing tax code law which enables
the growing confiscation of property and the wealth of those who
will not be able to comply with their ever greater confiscation in
order to "spread the wealth".
An Anti-American, Communist dirtbag is what Obama is. Period.

{ angie }  Pro User  says:

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said "Praise the Lord." And when the young leader said, "I will be for change and I'll bring you change," everyone yelled, "Viva Fidel!"

But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the beginning of my story.

Luckily, we would never fall in America for a leader like this who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?

Would we?

Manuel Alvarez Jr. Sandy Hook.
