Security

Security by Thomas Hawk.
This guy was a nice guy. We ran into one of our typical you can't shoot this building / yes I can debates at the JPMorgan building on Mission St. We talked for a little while and after 10 or 15 minutes of BSing with the guy he let me get my shots of the building from the public areas around the building. He had a good attitude and joked around a lot and let me take a shot of him posing.

In my opinion this is a positive way for security guards and photographers to interact. I didn't mind him questioning me and talking to me or getting to know me better and in the end we came up with a mutual understanding that I could shoot the building. I was really no threat and he could figure this out after talking to me and rather than take an adversarial tone he took a friendlier one.

Great picture, but frankly, the guy had no business even bothering you so long as you were not on the premises. If you were around the building and not in it, he shouldn't have even been there! Still, he seems like an OK guy and you did get a really good picture of him.

I've heard about stuff like this around Washington, but I've never encountered it other than on the premises of private buildings.

A rare outcome! Most security guards don't come with the common sense or reasoning modules preinstalled. As I know you know all too well, TH.
