Hover effects in IE7

Hover effects in IE7 by Matthew Pennell.
Taken from the Stopdesign header (and noticed in several other places) - IE7 has no hover effect (Ed: on some sites)!

I should point out that this is *not* a universal failing - hovers work okay on my own site and several others, although I've also seen them failing on the Cap Gemini site.

Maybe it's the way Bowman creates his CSS that triggers the bug.

It could be a z-index bug as well, perhaps.

Wait, scratch that — z-index bug would make clicking them impossible…

From a comment on Sitepoint, I think might be the source of the problem:

"if the style sheet is @imported as opposed to embedded or
linked, IE 7 completely loses the hover pseudoclass."

If Doug still uses the high- and mid-bandpass filters, they use @import (IIRC).

I've tested all my company's sites (which use @import) and hover doesn't happen anywhere. I've read a similar comment on the IEBlog (sorry - can't remember precisely where!).
