Google in 20 years…

The designer of the above photo is Jason. He created that picture under the screen
name "modified_dangler" for a Fark.com photoshop contest
with the Theme "Google (or Google searches), 15 years in
the future":

He won that contest with a a large margin, back in 2004.

[ Thanx saufnase for the info ! ]

@ danielrluke. Google is a business. A bloody good one. They make lots of money for their shareholders by selling advertising on search results. It clearly works for them. Yes, the advertising is less "flairy" but at least it is easier to ignore!!!

If Google can tell me where my fckng keys are, I'd happily click on a few ads to support them.

danielrluke says:

Ah, everyone talks about Google being so powerful and great, but it isn't. It is, in fact, deeply flawed. Maybe they'll change, maybe they'll get better, but I wouldn't count on it. IBM missed the personal computer (Microsoft), and Microsoft missed the internet. Stop for two seconds and think about this. Apparently the phenomenology of missing important ideas is part of the human condition. Most people do not know how to process new ideas because a truly new and innovative idea is like some weird thing dropped from outer space. It's like going in to a bar by yourself in an unfamliar town. You'll be lucky if you get noticed at all. Without a history, it lacks familiar contex and is largely unconnected to anything. History records a mostly negative response to any new innovation which has later become very useful and popular. The telephone, the telegraph, refrigeration, and countless more besides are all examples. Though we deride the generations who have come before us for being so blind, we are no better.

So, to those of you who are unable or unwilling to see the gross deficiencies of search as it now exists, I don't know what to tell you. It should be about as obvious as the nose on your face. The idea upon which Google was built was better than what existed fifteen years ago, but that's not saying much. IT people think computers are the answer to everything. They aren't. Humans are still the best arbiters of human affairs. Search modeled on this maxim would be truly useful. Algorithms cooked up by magicians and wizzards working in secret will one day be upended.

To the rest of you who ridicule a post of more than three words, there is not much to say. I wonder if everything in your life is so devoid of meaning.

wow danielrluke hit that one right on the nose. twice, sad to say some
people still lack a good desire for knowledge. i will admit it took a min for me to grasp your point but once i did i was blown away!! your idea about a search engine is right on. wow is about all i can say! it is much more pragmatic and useful.

i will say this i do agree with you on your point about human affairs, yet technology is highly necessary in human advancement in becoming a more evolved society. it gives us the power of information, along with the power of the word itself. something i think many people take for granted.

my email is the same as my username @sbcglobal.net email me sometime i enjoy sharing interesting or important things found on the internet

The original is an animated gif and is funnier. The final frame shown here implies that Google inserted "fucking". The original shows that the searcher did, but Google responds with "dipshit", presumably in keeping with the tone of the query.
