The Caretaker's Hut and Funeral Rock

The Caretaker's Hut and Funeral Rock by Vincent Ma.
The caretaker's hut overlooks Machu Picchu. Hikers that did the Inca trail (like us!) arrive here first and then go down. Those visitors that took the train will have to walk up here to get the spectacular view we saw first. :-)

Oh yeah, Machu Picchu is reported to be at 2,350 m altitude. That's why a lot of our pictures of this place is full of clouds, like this one:

Yes Jasmic, "Visit Machu Picchu" was one of those things that my dearest has on her "10 things to do" list. And we thought that said visit won't be complete without hiking on the Inca Trail :-D

Not bad but I wish you stepped back or used a wider angle lens to get the tops of the mountains in the frame. Excessive noise in the background is also not attractive.

Yes, I agree that a wide angle or a step back would have been better, you should have tried to show the contrast between the huge mountains and the tiny lost house. You missed the point here.

I'm sure the view was awe-inspiring!

However, the photo doesn't quite convey that sense of where you are to the viewer. Like mentioned, it needed a bit wider of a view. I'm sure equipment was a limiting factor, and I'm guessing that a step back would of been a step down! But all the same, this doesn't quite do it for me.

Ha ha ha you are right Jasmic.

I do agree that if I had a wider-angle shot it might be more appropriate. The only problem is that we reached that location during the morning and everywhere there were clouds.. even that wide angle shot will only show more clouds. The angle of the sun also meant that the mountains were all a monotonous blue-green.. Oh well. :)
