When the Pāhoehoe lava cools, the surface of the lava flow cools really fast. (Especially that day when it is raining.) so it cools into a glass-like material. It has many bubbles and it is very shiny. Of course this being a National Park I can't remove anything.. but this was a very beautiful specimen. Oh yeah if I brought anything back I will suffer from Pele's curse... :)
