Salvation Army Tornado Relief in Hugo |
Three Salvation Army crews in mobile
feeding kitchens (canteens) patrolled
the hardest hit areas of Hugo, Minn.
feeding emergency workers, volunteers
and residents as they pick through
shattered homes searching for personal
items.
The Salvation Army has now shifted its
focus from meeting the immediate needs
of Hugo’s tornado survivors to assisting
them long-term.
About 60 homes suffered major damage or
complete destruction in the May 25
twister, leaving dozens of individuals
and families homeless. The Salvation
Army is coordinating up to six months of
housing assistance for these people.
The Salvation Army is also helping
residents with unmet financial needs
associated with insurance claims or
having to take time off work.
