Superbly implemented agmk.
I thought you may like to know I've featured your bookcases as my 'Bookshelf of the Week' over at RobAroundBooks.

Full credit and link-backs have of course been given.
Many thanks for sharing the shots and for giving me a great idea..hmmm.
Warmest
Rob

This is a really really cool project. Well done, it looks sharp.

I was looking at it expecting that it had to be on casters or something, but wouldn't have thought to set them at an angle like that. Well designed and cleverly executed!

..so the rightmost part (the small one) is on an angle?

i was trying to figure out how the "door" is working without getting stuck on the bookshelf with the drinks :)

Very, very nice. When the time comes that I purchase a house, I'm doing that.

Thanks all.

In response to a couple of the comments, the 'bar' bookshelf was indeed built to angle inwards on the left edge. To all planning to do this, bear in mind that the casters will leave marks over time.

To prevent leaving marks have you thought about using those furniture moving discs instead of casters? Then they would glide without scratching.

I do like the concept and the fact you did it in an apartment versus a house.

Great job.

What an awesome idea! I'm going to try this at my next apartment. Our main problem is not really that rooms need to be concealed, but that we have so many books and we're running out of space for shelving. This totally eliminates the problem of needing to not put bookshelves in front of doors.

Usually bookcases are against walls to provide stability. These, obviously, aren't. How do you keep them stable without falling?
