This was my morning walk to work exactly a year ago today.

As there wasn't even a speck of snow on the ground 24 hours prior, Jersey City and New York were pretty much caught off guard by the massive dumping they got and were shut down for the entire day. The winds on this morning whipped the snow back into the air - not that enjoyable as it's smacking you in the face.

At least there was some effort in this part of the city to move the snow aside. Nothing was plowed where I stayed - which meant walking through 4-foot snowdrifts just to get onto the street. Or what I thought was the street.

The night before, my Indian food delivery had his car stuck in a snowbank a 1/4 mile away, which meant I had to run out to the car in the height of the blizzard itself - just to eat something.

Ah, the memories.

Walking through Piccadilly Gardens today, some girls approached me to take their picture. I soon learned the story about the girl on the right - more details here.

From receiving some pretty horrific injuries, I'd have never known from her body language had she not explicitly told me what to notice about her.

...not being caught walking around a Boxing Day blizzard like last year. But, hey, at least it looks festive (sidewalk shoveler notwithstanding).
