Menstrual Period in Political History by Danny Sillada, 60 X 45", Acrylic & Rubber Paint on Metamorphoric Rock, 2005
Censuring an artwork for exhibition because of an offensive political theme can be so demeaning to the integrity and freedom of an artist. This painting has caused me mental and emotional anguish when my freedom of expression has been supressed. Creating an outcry and controversy during the previewing at the gallery, this painting may not have the chance to be seen or exhibited at public places anymore in my politically and economically sick country. I may not paint anymore as well.

If you walk away from art and canvas, we all lose. Please don't walk away. Is the title the problem/controversy? There is a saying here in the US... "A rose by any other name smells just as sweet". Stand your ground, but never, never, never let them defeat you in spirit and soul.
