As a teenager in Bamako, Mali, Camara began taking photos indoors, fearful that his camera would be stolen if he ventured outside. In this video of interior spaces, he depicts curtains that hang in the doorways of homes belonging to the artist’s friends and family, marking a physical boundary between public and private.
